My paintings walk the line between abstraction and realism, exploring close-up views of minuscule, overlooked events. I draw attention to the microscopic happenings in biology that result in life on earth. Gesture, color and the tension between chaos and order, the real and imagined, are the tools I use to create my paintings. I often work from images of the inside of the body or from still lives I create, focusing on the event I chose to depict. I make paintings that describe the hopeful uncertainty, anxiety, and reproductive energy that drive the human experience.
